Yesterday after work we decided to take a quick evening drive in Kruger. We only had an hour and a half before gates closed, but it was our best hour and a half spent in Kruger yet. I’d checked the Latest Sightings facebook page and knew that there’d been lion, cheetah, leopard and wild dog around so we drove as fast as is allowed to that area. Michael spotted some cars hanging around off the tar road (a good sign in the park), so we went and joined them. A car that was driving away told us how there was a cheetah lying in the grass but you could only see its ears. Then he drove off, poor poor guy. 10 points to you if you can spot it in the pic below.
We hung around a little and boy are we glad we did. A few minutes later the cheetah decided to sit up, stretch and then walk off. Then a second and then a third cheetah appeared. It was AMAZING. We were really lucky to get a good spot and drive along slowly, next to the cheetahs.

We weren’t expecting to see much else as we used up all our spare time at the cheetahs, but then a few minutes later on the road back to the gate we found some hyenas with cubs. Unfortunately we couldn’t risk spending too long trying to get photos.
What a great start to the weekend!
