Last Christmas we invested in a Christmas tree, so this year is time to invest in decorations (you know because Christmas is expensive and all that). In true Pure Sweet Joy style, some of them needed to be DIY (and gold). So here you have it, your very own DIY gold animal Christmas tree decorations. You could of course do the same thing with any plastic toys, if you don’t want animals.
What you need:
Small plastic animals
Gold spray paint (or whatever colour you want)
Small gold eye screws
Twine or ribbon
What to do:
Start by spraying your animals with your chosen paint. Allow them to dry well before flipping over to do the second side. (I am absolutely TERRIBLE at waiting for spray paint to dry!)
Use a piece of your twine to wrap around the animal. Find the position that allows the animal to hang evenly. If you can’t get it to hang evenly at all, then it’ll be the point where it changes from the animal falling forwards to falling backwards 🙂 In general, for my animals, this ended up being just behind the front legs.
Twist in an eye screw in line with your “even point” and thread it with your twine, tying a small knot in the end.
Hang your very own DIY christmas ornaments on your tree and enjoy!
What are your favourite christmas tree decorations/ornaments? Do you keep it simple or elaborate? Do you have any Christmas tree traditions? I’d love to hear!
